DUB Pies, which I just found out while writing this stands for Down Under Bakery – since they specialize in Australian/New Zealand style meat pies. First off, the woman dumped a scoop of mash potatoes on top of mini-pie stuffed with Steak and Cheddar cheese – AWESOME. I also tried their Chicken and Vegetable’s also good – but I prefer the red meat. While we were waiting on line their staff came over with shots of ice coffee, so between that and the Meat Pies, they earned my vote Rookie of the Year.
The truck is all over Manhattan and Brooklyn, which included guest spot at Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club in Gowanus. Follow them on twitter to see all their locations, along with their brick-and-mortar location In Prospect Park.
When I first moved into my neighborhood, there was a little old Italian man who would give me a cut and a shave every other week. The place gives you that old school feel of something your grandfather would have went to, possibly even in the same neighborhood, a few decades back.
Unfortunately, Sal the barber has died, however they still have some great people working there. In terms of the value, for $26.00 (plus tip) you can walk out with a haircut and for an additional $24 – you can get a hot towel shave. The have a great appointment system on their website (below) which you can book all services.
